The idea of democracy is the power of the people that they have democratic rights such as the doctrine of democracy and the freedom of expression. In a complete democratic society, everyone is born equal. People not only have power in democracy but also have a responsibility to the society. In addition, democracy relates with Constitutions and election. There are a lot of democracy societies except the United States. As a democratic country, the United States and Canada have similar political and rules, but still have differences. However, sometimes the law put undue emphasis on the procedural justice that makes a beneficial judgment to the defendant and damage benefit of victims. In an instance, the case of American football player Simpson in 1994 showed that in the case of sufficient evidence, due to procedural evidence not being adopted, the two first-degree murder charges were acquitted. The goal of law should prevent citizens from being infracted their rights. To compare with the United States, Canada is one of the Commonwealth countries. Racism The Grand Obstacle of Societyââ¬â¢s Advancement
In our society today, there are still a voluminous amount of instances of racial discrimination. It can vary from a trifling slur to severe verbal mistreatment. There is discrimination everywhere such as public schools, jobs, and generally anywhere you can consider. One would ponder that after approximately one hundred and fifty years since the abolition of slavery, and fifty years since the civil rights movement, we wouldnââ¬â¢t have the exact problem that still forays us today. Two of the most known illustrations of racial discrimination occurring would be at work and in the public school system, even if most people do not want to accept it. An exceptional solution is to inform people about equality and to set a code of conduct that shouldâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦E. Campbell. He says that minorities such as Hispanics and African Americans have h igher drop-out rates than do non-Hispanic Whites. Consequentially, we are becoming a more divided nation; Schools for low income children and children of color are being overlooked and inadequately secure, staffed, and funded. The statistics show that those economic choices of unequal funding of schools produce most of the differences of achievement, which show evidence of racial superiority and inferiority. Campbell also gives in great detail the unsanitary conditions of schools containing a higher percentage of low income students. Campbell states that most of the failing schools in Chicago are predominantly African American and Latino. Finally, Campbell mentions our countryââ¬â¢s history of race relations such as the enslavement of Africans, the murder of Native Americans, and the seizure of land claimed by Mexico. He wrote that despite decades of resistance and struggle, only little progress has been made toward abolishing racial oppression and stratification. Context of Pharmacological Academic System â⬠MyAssignmenthelp.com
Question: Discuss about the Context of Pharmacological Academic System. Answer: Introduction Professional nursing practice is guided by the objective of implementing strategies that support delivery of good quality care services. One such key strategy is an evidence-based nursing practice that has been well documented throughout a wide range of literature. The term evidence-based practice refers to the process of engaging in relevant research and applying the insights gained into nursing practice. Research questions come up from clinical scenarios that are complex and multifactoral. Such research questions might be aiming at questioning a certain practice or aiming at bringing about improvement in practice (Parahoo, 2014). The present paper is written on such a clinical scenario that aims to study the relationship between use of the stimulant drug and academic performance management of university student. The PICO question considered in this context is Do stimulants increase academic performance in university students? The paper would consider two peer-reviewed research pape rs relevant to the research questions. These papers would be critically analysed for understanding their credibility and importance. The next section of the paper would focus on highlighting the challenges that might be faced while applying the insights drawn from the research into practice. It would also consider discussing the alignment between the research studies and the research question considered. Authorship The present article has been co-authored by Elisabeth Hildt, Klaus Lieb and Andreas Gunter Franke. Hildt has expertise in Neuroethics and belongs to the Department of Philosophy, University Medical Centre Mainz, Germany. Lieb and Franke belong to the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. There is an absence of conflict of interest in this research paper. Research aims The study was undertaken with the research question of do university students use stimulant drugs for enhancing the cognitive functioning and successively better academic results as well as other reasons? The authors aimed at highlighting the connection between the use of stimulant drugs and students concern for academic results as well as other non-academic factors. The authors did not mention any hypothesis in this research. The researchers clarified the background of the present study. The gaps in existing literature throwing light on the use of stimulant drugs by university students were successfully highlighted by them. The researchers stated that no qualitative studies had been previously undertaken that was eminent for illustrating the present research topic. The lack of empirical data on the concerned topic motivated the researchers to undertake the study. Design The present study had a qualitative research methodology. The data collection management method was extensive face-to-face interviews held with the concerned participants. The interviews were held with the help of semi-structured questionnaire with questions that were close-ended. Three interviewers were appointed for the interview purpose along with one psychologist. Each interview was carried out with two interviewers. The complete process of interview was tape recorded. While one interviewer was responsible for engaging in communication with the respondent while the interview was being carried out, the other interviewer noted down the responses provided. The rationale behind this step was that the researchers did not want any loss of responses. Data analysis was done with the help of the process of generating transcriptions. An inductive category development method was considered for systematic data analysis. Based on the guidelines for research put forward by Chesnay (2015) it can be commented that the present researchs methodology was justified in light of the research question being addressed. Qualitative research methodology is suitable when one needs to highlight the views and feelings of respondents, as in the present case. Face-to-face interviews are crucial for extracting optimal information from the respondents since respondents can be communicated with and guided along the interview. As stated by Parahoo (2014) close-ended questions are of less importance than openended questions since they limit the responses of the participants. Nevertheless, inductive data analysis approach is appropriate for qualitative research since a summarised set of results can be achieved (Fain, 2017). The research had 18 students from the University of Mainz as participants who were healthy and without any psychiatric disorder. The students were to report non-medical use of illicit stimulants for enhancement of academic performances. The study highlighted six important categories for the life contexts in which university students use stimulant drugs. These were Context of stimulant use beyond academic performance enhancement, the Subjective experience of enhancement, Timing of consumption, Objective academic results, Side effects, Pressure to perform. The study inferred that students prefer using stimulant drugs for enhancing their cognitive ability that ultimately reflects their academic purposes. In addition, there are other multidimensional factors that lead to such practice. Strengths and weaknesses The study was significant for highlighting the contexts in which university students use stimulant drugs. The weaknesses of the study included participation bias due to the inclusion of only healthy individuals, spontaneous responses given and uncertainty in conclusion of the study. Authorship The concerned research article has been co-authored by four researchers Munro BA,Weyandt LL,Marraccini ME and Oster DR. The first, second and third authors of the paper belong to the University of Rhode Island, USA while the third author belong to the Bradley Hasbro Research Center, USA. However, the paper does not mention the affiliations and qualifications of the researchers. There is an abcence of conflict of interest in this research paper. Research aims The study was undertaken with the research question of is there any association between nonmedical use of prescription drugs (NMUPS), executive functioning and academic outcomes among college students? The researchers aimed at studying the relationship between these three variables among a certain cohort of student population belonging to five different areas of USA. The two hypothesis of the study were as follows- Students who have EF deficiencies, as indicated by the Barkley Deficits Executive Functioning Scale (BDEFS), present more likelihood of representing NMUPS use opposing to those having average EF skills NMUPS is responsible for having an modifying impact on the relationship between EF and academic performances. The researchers illustrated the background of the present research. As per the researchers, there was a dearth of prasiseworthy studies that was efficient in studying the relationship between NMUPS and EF considering cohort of student population. The present research aimed at bridging the gap in existing studies highlighting the relationship between the variables in cohorts of college students. The studies that were carried out prior to this research only considered the link between EF deficiency and reporting of prescription stimulants. The research under scrutiny was based on the principles of a quantitative research methodology. The data collection was done from the respective participants covering three variables, use of stimulant drugs, deficiency in executive functioning and acedmic performance. Use of stimulant drug was indicated by the Stimulant Survey Questionnaire (SSQ), while deficiency in executive functioning and acedmic performance were denoted by Barkley Deficits in Executive Functioning Scale (BDEFS for Adults) and Grade Point Average (GPA). The researchers used independent samples t-test and ANOVA test for testing the first and second hypothesis respectively. Based on the research guidelines presented by Tapppen (2015) it can be stated that use of quantitative research methodology was justified. This is in light of the fact that quantitative research is appropriate when the aim is to establish the relationship between confounding variables. The other advantage is that accurate data can be retrieved that is free from biases to a considerable extent. Nevertheless, since the study wanted to highlight the nature of relationship between the variables the use of correlational study design was not justified (Fain, 2017). The main findings of the study was that a notable section of the study population reported the use of NMUPS. Further, there was no dissimilarity between male and female population pertianing to this finding. The respondents stated that they used such drugs mainly for enhancing their academic grades. As the researchers had hypothesised that students having deficiency in executive functioning would be taking such drugs in more amount, it was proved correct by the study findings. The strength of the study was that a quantitative research design was considered. The weaknesses of the study were in regards to sampling error due to gender bias, and insufficiency to find a causal relationship existing among the considered three variables. Barriers for the application of evidence in practice- The case scenario of Wasim is the basis of the present paper. Adjudging the applicability of the inferences drawn from the two articles it can be stated that the conclusion drawn from the articles are not sufficient for coming up with a certain viewpoint regarding whether stimulant drugs are useful for academic performances. In case of Wasim, it can be recommended that he must not use stimulant drugs without further research that is accurate and trustworthy. This is more prominent since there are a number of weaknesses of these studies. These include sampling bias, inappropriate research methodology and uncertainty regarding author credentials. Alignment of research studies with the PICO question- The present paper aimed at addressing the PICO question Do stimulants increase academic performance in university students? through the two studies. However, the question could not be completely addressed in this context by the papers. Conclusion The present paper was significant in presenting an opportunity to critically analyse research articles. Nurses who promote evidence-based practice have been indicated to foster service delivery in alignment with the organisational objectives as well as personal goals. In this context, it is to be mentioned that the research has to be based on current and up-to-date information present on the topic being researched. Critical analysis of the research papers is important for extracting valuable insights from the research that can be applied in different contexts for resolving clinical questions. The papers highlighted multifaceted aspects of the use of stimulant drugs by university and college students. The findings of the papers can be considered for application to real life contexts under suitable conditions. In the present case, it might not be suitable to apply the insights drawn from the articles into practice. For coming to a conclusion on whether stimulant drugs are to be used fo r academic purposes by a college or university students further research is to be carried out. These studies must rest upon strong research methodologies and must be flawless as much as possible. References Chesnay, M. D. (2015). Nursing research using participatory action research. The only advice he gave me was, make sure you come off the ground exhaustedââ¬â¢, furthermore he forgets his sons age, ââ¬ËIââ¬â¢m fourteenââ¬â¢ ââ¬ËThatââ¬â¢s what I said, isnââ¬â¢t it? ââ¬â¢ Despite the negativity Blacky was surrounded in he could still find a way to stand up for him self, even though he didnââ¬â¢t know it. A number of times, Blacky thought that he couldnââ¬â¢t do something, what ever the situation might be, but at the same time he didnââ¬â¢t let his fear over take him, showing great confidence that grown as time went on. One Example was at his footy grand final at Wangaroo, Thumperââ¬â¢s home ground. At first Blacky thought he couldnââ¬â¢t do it although he also didnââ¬â¢t want to let the team down and more importantly him self. In the end Blacky didnââ¬â¢t run away and remained on the filed, helping the team to win the grand finale and getting the tackle from thumper, which showed loyalty for his team and huge courage. While going to footy training, Blacky also gained a great friendship with an aborigine called Dumby Red. At first, Blacky knew that they wonââ¬â¢t destine to be friends because the Aborigines, also known as the Nungas and the Europeans, Goonyas were separate from each other. Blacky lived in the Port and Dumby lived in the Point. Both Dumby and Blacky didnââ¬â¢t have a lot in common and wonââ¬â¢t expect to because the town was racist about the two different cultural believes. Although they were a lot different, Dumby didnââ¬â¢t care and became great friends with Blacky. As their friendships grow, Blackyââ¬â¢s views towards the racism of the aborigines changed and didnââ¬â¢t fill comfortable about the racism by the locals. Blacky starts to see his town through different eyes and starts questioning some of the things he uses to accept, like racism jokes, exclusions and stereotyping. Even though, in Blackyââ¬â¢s town not many Goonyas were friends with Nungas, Blacky didnââ¬â¢t care what others thought about him having a friend with an aborigine, their friendship built in the gap that he had between the Nungas and the Goonyas. Many people in Blackyââ¬â¢s town were involved in racism, but hardly anyone tried to fix it. It took great courage to accept that he was wrong about racism and donââ¬â¢t care to be mates with Dumby, furthermore trying to help the town see his way. That had shown a lot of guts. Every one in Blacky town was involved in racism, but because the lack of people wanting to change it was hard for anyone in fixing it, though that didnââ¬â¢t stop him in trying. Blacky particularly felt guilty about the graffiti around his town ââ¬ËBOONGS PISS OFFââ¬â¢ and because he was a great friends with Dumby, he didnââ¬â¢t fill comfortable that the graffiti was there and wanted to fix the problem ââ¬ËIââ¬â¢m getting more and more ashamedââ¬â¢ Blacky realized he shouldnââ¬â¢t wait for someone else to paint over the graffiti and should do it him self. Blacky risked in fixing the relation with his father by getting his best paints and brushes to paint over the graffiti, which took a lot of guts if you wore afraid of your father. After Dumby pasted away in a shooting, Blacky was devastated and felt really low, so he wanted do some thing to remember Dumby which took great courage to ask people to remember some one who they wore racist to. In the end Blacky found him self surprised and disappointed that know one wanted to help him remember his best mate Dumby, they wore ether to afraid of the aborigineââ¬â¢s reaction if the they went to Dumbyââ¬â¢s funeral ââ¬ËBut I donââ¬â¢t think youââ¬â¢d be welcome. Itââ¬â¢s for people out there at the point. Itââ¬â¢s their business, not oursââ¬â¢ or they didnââ¬â¢t care. Despite people thoughts to Blackyââ¬â¢s idea that wasnââ¬â¢t enough to change his mind. Blacky rejected Cathyââ¬â¢s invitation to her go way party, which took huge amount of guts because he really liked her and he also rejected his fatherââ¬â¢s fishing trip, were Bob Black gave his son another chance going fishing with him. Blacky was finally going to do what he thought was right. ââ¬ËI didnââ¬â¢t care what anyone said. Tomorrow I was going to Dumbyââ¬â¢s funeralââ¬â¢ and it took huge amounts of courage for a Goonya to go in Nungas territory, were Dumby was buried ââ¬ËThe point Aboriginal reserve- No entry without prior permissionââ¬â¢ At the beginning of the chapter Blacky was afraid of his father because he was unpredictable, for instance when they went fishing, one minute he was all calm the next he would be frustrated and yelling at Blacky. Consequently, Blacky chanced his thoughts about his father and stood up to him when he yelled at ââ¬Ëyouââ¬â¢re trying to kill us! You hate usââ¬â¢ but then his father banned him for ever going fishing with him and that he was a ââ¬Ëgutless wonderââ¬â¢ Though when he was given another chance to go fishing with him, Blacky rejected his invitation and went to Dumbyââ¬â¢s funeral, where he believed he had to go and pay respects to his mate, making a courageous decision. Blacky also took his fathers best paintbrushes and paints to paint over the racist graffiti, even though he was afraid of his father and knowing he treasured his paints and brushes. Has time past he wasnââ¬â¢t afraid to tell his father what he thought and believed, showing great strength within. As you progresses through the story Deadly Unna? You find Blacky leaning to standing up for him self through out the year, instead of standing on the sidelines. After becoming great mates with Dumby, which is another courageous thing to do when the Nungas and the Goonyas are racist towards each other, Blacky begins to see his town through different eyes and start questioning what he use to accept as funny jokes. Blacky realizes that he houldnââ¬â¢t sit and wait for others to do his work. He finds him self standing up to his father so he could do something thing about the racism towards the Nungas by erasing the racist graffiti in town. Blacky shows great amounts of courage by not caring about being friends with an aborigine and great amount of guts in going through town and see if anyone wants to help him in doing something to remember Dumby, after his mate got sho t and despite all the rejection from every one else he still went to Nungas territory for Dumbyââ¬â¢s funeral. So, according to Blackyââ¬â¢s actions and persistence through out the book he shows more guts then any one, even though if he didnââ¬â¢t know it at the start. Do you think anyone knows if their courageous in the beginning? I think a person has gut and is courageous when they do whatââ¬â¢s right, something that Blacky had done through out the book. The novel has a lot of racism in it. Many people are involved in racism, but hardly anyone tries to mend it. Gary knows racism is around, but because of the lack of anyone wanting to change it, he finds it difficult to mend it. Dumby also tries to fix it from his point of view. The Aboriginal community also doesnââ¬â¢t want to fix the problem. Gary and Dumbyââ¬â¢s family try to make changes but they are not on a very large scale. Most of the adults are racist. Not all of them know that they are racist; the only one mentioned was Darcy, because he says that they are all sluts with the clap. The butcher that wrote the racist graffiti on the wall is definitely racist, and Gary knows that he is racist. Racism takes many from in the story; five aspects in the novel are racial jokes, racial abuse, racist people, exclusion and stereotypes.

Computer Networking essays
Computer Networking essays Networking is one of the most significant steps in the electronic evolution since the invention of the PC. A computer network is a group of connected computers that allow the sharing of information and peripherals. The most basic network is made up of two computers connected by some kind of cable in order to exchange information more quickly and efficiently. A standalone computer is very useful to many businesses, but without a network, those businesses would have to spend twice the amount of money on computerization than they would have to by implementing a network. A network allows many computers to share peripheral devices such as printers and facsimile machines. The two primary benefits of computer networks are sharing of devices and data. There are two basic types of networks: peer-to-peer and server-based. On a peer-to-peer network, any computer can act as a server to share resources with other machines and as a client to access these resources. On the other hand, server-based networks require a server computer whose job is to respond to requests for services or resources from clients elsewhere on the network. Server-based networks are used in most organizations today. There is an advantage to server-based networks such that it centralizes user accounts and eases maintenance with less need for administration. There are some disadvantages as well. Two of the largest and most common disadvantages are server failure and initial start up cost. When the server fails, the whole system is considered useless until the server is fixed. Se rvers can also be very expensive, ranging from $5000.00 to $150,000.00. Also, in order to cut down on server failure, special-purpose server software, hardware and expert staff is required. This will increase cost, but in the long run networks have proven to be very profitable by cutting down on day-to-day office expenditures. Before a server can be incorporated into a business, a netwo...
